Paying for Home Care
Due to the fact that we are licensed as non-medical, insurance companies do not accept our services to be covered under your medical insurance.
All of our clients are considered private pay, which means that the hourly rate that is given to you will need to be paid out of pocket. The only policy that covers our services is if the client purchased a separate, long-term care policy or you are a US Veteran and have a referral from your local VA representative.
Long-Term Care 101
What is a long-term care policy?
Long-term care is a separate policy that is not affiliated with your health insurance that helps pay the cost associated with long-term care. These costs are those that are generally not covered by health insurance, medicare or Medicaid. Some popular companies include Genworth or John Hancock.
Does you or your loved one have Long-Term Care Insurance?
We encourage all of our clients to look into whether they have a separate, long-term care policy that could have been purchased at one point or another. This is something that many did not opt in to purchase as until recently, the idea of being able to age at home was foreign to them. Â
I have , or my loved one, has a long-term care policy. What are the next steps?
We would recommend you contact a representative from the office who can guide you through next steps. Most long-term care policies have an elimination period, which is a set number of days before being able to refund our services.
Do you accept direct payments from Long Term Care companies?
We do not accept long-term care payments that are directly sent to us. For a small fee, we will submit all required documents needed for the family or the client to be reimbursed. This includes carenotes, itemized invoices and a list of ADL’s (Activities of Daily Living).  The family or client continues to pay us directly and you will be reimbursed, via direct deposit, every 30 days.
VA Benefits
If you have served our country and qualify for VA benefits, we recommend you call your local, VA representative to see if you qualify for benefits for non-medical, private duty care. If so, please have them email a referral to ahapeman@vnhlc.org and we will begin the process. All VA benefit qualifiers will still have to sign agreement forms to understand our policies etc.
